Our team recognise that making the decision to have an abortion during this time of reduced hospital services is difficult. You may have more fears or concerns, or you may feel more isolated. Most abortions are happening in people’s homes, for some this is helpful, for others it is more difficult.

After an Abortion
The decision to have an abortion can be a difficult one. There can be a lot of feelings afterwards. For some the main feeling is relief. Other women feel distressed and upset, but do not know where to turn for help. Many years later these feelings may not have gone away.

Feeling distressed or numb can be upsetting and can cause anxiety. It can be helpful to have someone to talk things through with who was not involved in what happened. We provide a space where you can piece together what has happened and work out what you feel.
Alternatives offer face to face or telephone support over a number of sessions. This service is free and confidential and uses a person centred approach. You will be assigned a team member who will get to know you and work with you throughout your time with us. There is currently no waiting list. You might want to make an appointment or it might feel easier to call or email first to find out more.

As we are not an emergency support service we may not answer our phones or respond to texts/ emails straight away. However, we will get back to you as soon as someone is in the office. Our office hours are 9am to 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Feel free to discuss the dates and time of your appointment with your support worker as we may be able to see you in the evenings.
