Abortion Care

The decision to have an abortion is never easy and can be very isolating. One in three women has had an abortion but few talk about their experience. As a team, we are here to support you. This may be longer-term support or you may just want to talk things through right now.

Abortion Care Dundee

During this time of social distancing, you might feel more anxious or alone. You might feel upset about having an abortion at home or you might be relieved that this is possible.

We want to help you as you prepare to think about your emotional wellbeing as well as practical needs. We have prepared an abortion care information page that will give you ideas of what you might need to prepare to have an abortion at home or in hospital.

Our resources page has videos that may help you.

Again, we are here to discuss these things with you if that would be helpful.

After an abortion

It is normal to have a range of emotions after an abortion. These may range from relief to numbness or regret. For some these feelings can be overwhelming, especially if you found it to be a very difficult experience.

Feeling distressed or numb can be upsetting and can cause anxiety. We provide a space where you can piece together what has happened and work out what you feel.

Appointments are available daytimes, evenings and weekends and sessions last around 50 minutes. Currently our service is operating through telephone, online video or our online chat room appointments. Our service is free of charge and confidential.

You will be assigned a team member who will get to know you and work with you throughout your time with us. There is currently no waiting list. You might want to make an appointment or it might feel  easier to call text or email first to find out more.

“thank you, Alternatives, for the service you provide. It is inspirational and truly saved me. I was in a dark place inside my head full sadness guilt and shame. you reminded me how to love myself and for that, I will be forever grateful”
