Listening Rooms Counselling Dundee

Youth Counsellor (16 hours per week)

This is an exciting post for a qualified counsellor to join our DOWNLOAD team and have a role in redesigning and updating our youth programmes. This is small, non-hierarchical, and passionate team, who aim to create a working environment where team members are supported both in their clinical work and their wellbeing. We are looking for an individual who has experience of working with and supporting young people (aged 12-25) to become the best version of themselves. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is a team player, innovative, creative, and open-minded.

The post will mainly involve working with young people based in Dundee however there may be opportunities to counsel young people from the wider Tayside area. The post holder will be expected to deliver counselling and group interventions both in schools, community organisations and at our counselling rooms in our Dundee city centre base. It will also be expected for the counsellor to work and support our young volunteers. Clinical supervision will also be provided for this role in keeping with our ethical practice framework and our COSCA Organisational Membership.

Youth Counsellor Job Description and Person Specification

Outreach Counsellor (8 hours per week)

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and committed individual who is willing to work reflectively and collaboratively with other agencies to deliver a counselling service for groups of people in our community who no longer have custody of their children.

The project will be delivered through a partnership with the TCA (Tayside Counsel on Alcohol) BIRCH Project and Alternatives Counselling Rooms. The post holder will work with the lead outreach worker to deliver the Alternatives ‘gentle counselling’ model to service users who are accessing the BIRCH project.

The post holder will work as part of a small supportive team, delivering 1:1 counselling to birth parents in Dundee. The post holder will be expected to assess and triage clients, carry their own case load of clients, and keep client records.

The successful candidate will be part of the Alternatives Counselling Outreach team. This is a small, non-hierarchical and passionate team, who aim to create a working environment where team members are supported both in their clinical work and their wellbeing. Regular training, peer mentoring and group supervision are in place to create a supportive working environment.
