Children in Care
Birth parents have children who are no longer in their care. This may be because the children have been released for adoption, or because they have been removed from their care. Losing the care of your child is life-changing.
Birth parents can be left with feelings, which affect how they feel about themselves. If this is something you have experienced you may feel very alone and may feel like your purpose or meaning in life is gone. You may feel as though you have lost your identity and wonder about your future.
Our team understand that birth parents can be left with complicated feelings of loss which are often hidden or secret.
Many birth parents want a place where they can talk about their children and about what has happened to them with someone outwith their situation.
Our team are trained to support birth parents through loss, offering compassionate listening support. We don’t judge you or tell you what you should think or feel.
Reflect for birth parents provides real care for birth parents who wish to take time to understand what has happened to them, to tell their own story and begin to make sense of the losses or trauma they have experienced. Our support builds resilience to cope with everyday life and enables each person to work out what their needs are and set goals for the future.
‘Reflect’ is a relational, person-centred approach, seeing each individual as valuable with a unique story to tell.
